Material Details

WeatherShield® HP is the next generation of high-performing solution-dyed polyester fabrics and offers an even higher level of fade-resistance. Fading from sun exposure is a common problem with many woven and nonwoven materials.

WeatherShield® HP car cover material is processed by weaving the solution-dyed polyester at the mill and then applying special coatings prior to the patented encapsulation process. Next, the encapsulation process is performed by applying silicone-based polymers onto the woven material. Then, a combination of heat and pressure is applied to the polymers forcing them inside the polyester fabric. Finally, specially designed ovens are used to cure the silicone-based polymers to a dry, solid state. Almost all the polyester fibers are wrapped in these polymers, making them individually fade-resistant and delivering the all-weather protection needed to protect your vehicle.

By nature, solution-dyed polyester is already more moisture-resistant and UV-resistant than other materials used in the industry. That being said, WeatherShield® HP has further enhanced the material's ability for all-weather protection for your car, truck or SUV by incorporating a patented EPIC® encapsulation technology.

EPIC® by Nextec®, was developed specifically for outdoor performance clothing. EPIC® uses a process which places a combination of proprietary polymers inside the woven fabric to change an already high-performing polyester material into a super fabric!

Caring for your WeatherShield® HP Car Cover

Any cover will perform at its best when it is clean and free from dust and dirt. To keep your WeatherShield® HP car cover providing optimal protection for your vehicle, follow these tips for cleaning:

  • Avoid washing WeatherShield® HP car cover in machines with center agitators
  • Do not use fabric softeners on your WeatherShield® HP car cover
  • Air drying is best. If you use a drying machine, use low heat

A large commercial washer without an agitator can also be used to wash your car cover. Insert the cover in the washer and add ¼ cup laundry detergent into washer after it's filled with warm water. Rinse the cover twice to be sure all detergent is removed. Allow cover to air dry before placing back on vehicle or storing.

To hand-wash, leave your WeatherShield® HP car cover on your vehicle. Mix an ounce of mild dish-washing liquid per quart of warm water. Spray or sponge soapy water onto cover and clean with soft bristle brush or sponge. Finally, rinse with plain water until suds are no longer evident and allow to air dry completely before utilizing or storing away.

Important Note: No cover is completely waterproof.

Car covers are designed with various levels of water-resistance while still being breathable to provide a maximum amount of protection for your vehicle.

If your vehicle is exposed to harsh elements such as constant moisture or snow, or is covered outside for long periods at a time, trapped moisture can occur which can sometimes cause the painted surface to appear cloudy. We recommend that you remove your cover periodically to check for any evidence of moisture. If moisture is present, we recommend that you allow the surface of your vehicle to completely dry before putting your cover back on.
