Material Features

As its name implies, Noah™ car covers can stand a torrential flood of rain and wet weather conditions while keeping out the majority of the moisture. They're not waterproof, as a car cover's ability to breath and allow water vapor to pass through is of utmost importance. To find out more on why we don't recommend waterproof car covers, please view our waterproof car covers page.

This unique, non-woven material is produced by Kimberly-Clark and was designed specifically for water repellency, UV protection and breathability. Kimberly-Clark is the 3rd largest non-woven producer in the world, and they've been researching, developing, and producing non-woven materials from synthetic fibers since the 1950s! Rest assured, Noah™ Car Covers are one of the best 4-ply materials being used in the marketplace today.

Material Details

The Noah™ car cover material is comprised of 4 distinct layers, each with its own unique properties and purpose.

The top 2 layers are a bound bi-component PP, or polypropylene. The fibers use sheath core technology, which combines a strong inner core with a polyethylene wrap for added softness. The light grey color won't retain heat and has been treated with UV inhibitors to maximize its life when being used outdoors.

The 3rd layer of Noah™ is a proprietary breathable film developed exclusively for Kimberly-Clark. The film is processed with chemicals which create microscopic holes that allow air molecules to pass through, but not the larger water molecules. This middle layer is extremely lightweight and creates an effective barrier to airborne particles and water. Most importantly, its breathability allows water to evaporate through the material, which is extremely important for all car covers. Car covers that don't breathe adequately will promote rust, corrosion and the formation of mold and mildew. It's far more important to make sure your automobile cover breathes instead of trying to find a completely waterproof solution. See our breathable car covers page for more information.

The 3rd and 4th inner layer of the bonded Noah™ Car Cover is soft to the touch, so even the most delicate paint finishes will be protected and free of dust and dirt. To achieve this level of softness in a spun-bond synthetic, a combination of nylon and polyethylene fibers are used. Kimberly-Clark® backs Noah™ Car Covers with a strong 4-year manufacturer warranty, and Coverstore adds an additional 2 years of bonus coverage for a total of 6 years of warranty coverage.

Noah™ car covers are light-weight, so they're easy to handle and put on or take off your vehicle. The 4-layer material is thick and padded, so it offers additional protection against dents, dings and scratches. The inner layer is soft, so your vehicle finish avoids being scratched.

Caring for your Noah™ Car Cover

When it comes to cleaning your Noah™ Car Cover, you can wash by hand or machine. By regularly cleaning your Noah™ Car Cover, you can prevent what's called the "fogging" effect from occurring on your vehicle's windows.

For hand-washing your cover, add an ounce of mild dishwashing liquid per quart of warm water and spray/sponge the soapy water onto the cover. Proceed to use a sponge or soft bristle brush to gently scrub the cover. Once you've gone over the entire cover, simply rinse with plain water until no suds are evident and allow to air dry. Do not store cover when wet.

Follow the below cleaning tips to ensure optimal performance of your Noah™ Car Cover:

  • Avoid washing machines with a center agitator when cleaning your Noah™ Car Cover
  • Avoid using all fabric softeners on a Noah™ Car Cover
  • Air dry ONLY, never machine dry

For machine wash, begin by inserting the Noah™ Car Cover into the washer (sans agitator), fill with warm water and then add ¼ cup laundry detergent. After the initial rinse cycle, rinse again to ensure all detergent has been removed. Allow cover to air dry before placing back on vehicle or storing. Commercial washers may be used; however, agitator must be removed.

You may also use a large commercial washer without an agitator to clean your Noah car cover.

Important Note: No cover is completely waterproof.

A good vehicle cover should be designed with some breathability to allow water to evaporate, making the car cover water-resistant, not waterproof. If your vehicle is exposed to harsh elements such as constant moisture or snow, or is covered outside for long periods at a time, trapped moisture can occur, which can sometimes cause the painted surface to appear cloudy.

To prevent any moisture residue, we recommend removing your cover periodically to check for any evidence of moisture. If moisture is present, we suggest allowing the surface of your vehicle to completely dry before putting your cover back on.
