Material Features

Coverstore offers Kimberly-Clark's Block-It 380™ material as an economical entry into the Custom Made car cover category. If a Custom-fit is not necessary, a good alternative to this material would be our Covermates Select 3-ply Nonwoven, which is available as a Contour Fit car cover. Kimberly-Clark is widely known for its high performance materials and you can read more at their website, Block-It.

Block-It 380™ car covers are lightweight, so they're a snap to put on and take off your car and don't take up a lot of storage space. They have the same properties as the more expensive Noah® Car Cover, but with one less layer (the outermost layer). See our Material Performance Chart for a detailed comparison.

Material Details

Block-It® 380 incorporates spun bound synthetic fibers in the inner and outer layers and is by nature a breathable fabric. In order to make it resistant to moisture penetration, a semi-permeable membrane is sandwiched between the inner and outer layers. The result is a performance material that is lightweight, breathable and water-resistant. If you're looking for a 100% waterproof car cover material, then the Block-It® 380 car cover is not the car cover for you.

Actually, we do not recommend using 100% waterproof car covers, and we refuse to sell them on our website. Find out why on our waterproof car covers information page.

Worried about even the smallest scratches getting on your impressive new paint job? As long as the car and the Block-It® 380& cover are clean, the inner layer is soft to the touch and will not harm even the most delicate of paint finishes. UV radiation is no match either, since the Block-It® 380 car cover features triple layer protection from the sun's harmful radiation. It does equally well in protecting your car's finish from other airborne pollutants such as pollen, dirt, dust, bird droppings, etc.

Caring for your Block-It 380™ Car Cover

In order for your car to receive the ultimate protection from your Block-It® 380 car cover, you'll want to clean it every now and then. By cleaning your cover, you'll prevent the "fogging" effect from occurring on your vehicle's windows.

For machine wash, insert the cover in the washer and add ¼ cup laundry detergent into washer after it has filled with warm water. Rinse the cover twice to be sure all detergent is removed. Allow cover to air dry before placing back on vehicle or storing. A commercial washer without an agitator can also be used to wash your car cover.

To keep your cover looking and performing its best, we suggest following these cleaning tips:

  • Remove the agitator in your washing machine before washing your Block-It® 380 car cover
  • Do not use a fabric softener on your Block-It® 380 car cover
  • Air dry only

To hand wash a Block-It® 380 car cover, you may do so while the car cover on your vehicle. Simply mix an ounce of mild dish-washing liquid per quart of warm water. Spray or sponge the soapy water onto cover and clean with soft bristle brush or sponge. Next, rinse with plain water until no suds are evident and allow to air dry. Store away when completely dry.

Important Note: No cover is completely waterproof.

Car covers are designed with various levels of water-resistance while still being breathable to provide a maximum amount of protection for your vehicle. If your vehicle is exposed to harsh elements such as constant moisture or snow, or is covered outside for long periods at a time, trapped moisture can occur which can sometimes cause the painted surface to appear cloudy.

We recommend that you remove your cover periodically to check for any evidence of moisture. If moisture is present, we recommend you allow the surface of your vehicle to completely dry before putting your cover back on.
